From the all-Ukrainian competitions to the international cycling race first category UCI

Open Cup mountain bike in the Donetsk region, the largest in the sport competition in Ukraine and in the entire post-Soviet space, includes two races: Ukrainian Open in the discipline of "cross-country on a short round" and the SC ISD CUP race in an Olympic discipline "cross Country" (XCO), which is included in the calendar of the International cycling Union (UCI).

The first race on the SC ISD CUP mountain bike in Donetsk was held in 2006 on the road in Budyonnovsk area. Its first winners were the representatives of SC "ISD" Natalya Krompets and Sergei Rysenko.

"To organize a race on mountain bike SC ISD CUP in 2006, we had the first time and, of course, we are faced with many problems. However, the leadership of the sports club "ISD" had a great desire to make the level of cycling in Donetsk was, at least not lower than the race for the Cup of Poland. First, we conducted a competition Budeonovsk metropolitan area of Donbass, and in 2008 the place was already competitive bikers Donetsk Central Park - a park named after Shcherbakov.

I note that the SC ISD CUP - cycling only in Ukraine by mountain bike, a member of the International Cycling Union calendar (UCI) and going on a European level. This year, UCI has raised the status of the race to the first category. It is no accident each year an increasing number of participants and expands their geography. I like the coach would like to see our riders came out victorious in all categories, but the mere participation in the race makes it possible to gain invaluable experience, which is useful in order to win in the future."

Already in its second year of the 2007 unique to the Ukraine on the mountain bike race «SC ISD CUP» entered the calendar of international Cycling Union (UCI). And in 2008 with the support of city officials race was already in the central part of town - on a specially designed track at the Donetsk recreation park named after Alexander Shcherbakov. She was awarded the second category of UCI.

Note that in SC "ISD" mountain bike office was opened in 2004 (coach - Honored coach of Ukraine Victor Melnik). In 2008, the first in Ukraine for the UCI mountain bike team «ISD Cycling Team» (then it was called «ISD-International» (Manager - Cyril Pospeev).

In the race for 2008 in full force acted only in Ukraine, a professional mountain bike team «ISD Cycling Team», registered in the UCI. A victory then won Christof Bischof from Switzerland, have filled the ranks after the Donetsk group.

Twice in 2007 and 2009, won the race among men Russian Maxim Gogolev, and women over four years was not equal member of the SC "ISD" Natalya Krompets (Ternopil).

A historic milestone in the history of the mountain bike in Ukraine was the assignment in 2010 SC ISD CUP race cycling status of the first category of the International Cycling Union.

In 2010, both men and women was won by the Russians Anton Gogolev and Oksana Rybakova.

Each year, SC ISD CUP race in Donetsk collects no less than 100 participants from around the world.
